It’s hard to believe that we haven’t posted in so long! (Does it seem that most of our posts start this way??).
Anyway, I thought I’d write a bit about Father’s day, then discuss our yard work progress, and close with our Independence Day activities…
Father’s Day was great! Maia got me some much needed clothes! They were very thoughtful and I have been wearing them a lot! Maia is growing SO FAST and it’s hard to believe that this was my second ‘official’ Father’s Day!
For those of you who have been to our house recently, you know that we have been extremely busy with yard work as we removed the lawn in the backyard, added 40 cubic yards of ultra fine compost (‘ultra fine?"’ they didn’t even have a ‘semi-fine’ when I called to order it…), and then added all new sod to replace the 50+ years old sod that had become terribly bumpy and unhealthy (not to mention the fact that it was several species of unappealing grass mixed together). We took a lot of before/after pictures and we will post them soon as I forgot the SD card from the camera so we’ll have to wait until we get home to post.
Some of our laborers.
During and after...
A special thanks to Nathan George who helped us get a great deal on the sod from BioGrass! You are great!!!
Our [American] Independence Day holiday was great! It was definitely ‘American summer’ type activities as we hosted a BBQ and went to a BBQ over the weekend (no baseball/cherrie pie though-Ashley did make some cherry pies with fresh cherries from out trees another weekend…).
We also adopted two chickens! Maia loves feeding them (and they definitely love her feeding them). We’d post pictures, but they’re a bit banged up—their previous flock picked on them so we adopted them and gave them a new home. Their feathers are already growing in though and we’ll post pictures of them soon! Maia has named them ‘Owie’ and ‘Baby.’
Anyway, that basically sums up our last few weeks other than working, planning our trips to Seattle & Hawai’i, and going public with our second pregnancy, not much has been going on!
We’re counting down the days to vacations and next child,
B,A,M,K
