Today, we went to the beach! No surprises on which one, though: Waikiki. We go there the most because
that's where all the busses go.




The speedo's were out in full force today. There were so many but we'll only mention a couple of the more
interesting ones...




First on our list (and the first speedo we saw today) was an older guy (late 50's) and another male who was also
wearing a speedo. His speedo was fluorescent yellow and he was walking around very proud. He took a swim and
when he came out, we realized that the fluorescent yellow speedo was also clear when wet!!! It was the most
disgusting thing that we'd seen all day...




Next, a less disgusting, but possibly more funny speedo. This guy was walking around with a cheetah print speedo
on the street by the beach. As if the fact that he was wearing a cheetah print speedo wasn't funny enough, it came
with it's own mini loin cloth (also cheetah print) that he was wearing around! It looked like he was trying to be
Tarzan or something! It was a very short one though and didn't cover much...it almost looked like it was formerly
a woman's swimsuit (although it would be funny on a woman too). Perhaps he forgot his suit and his wife lent him hers???
Who knows?




After a while on the beach, laughing at speedo's, we decided that we were hungry. Being in Waikiki, we didn't want to spend
a lot so we decided to eat McDonalds. The bill came out to over $20...for TWO PEOPLE!! The combo meals were $10 a piece! We went
to McDonalds because we thought they had relatively standardized prices...man, were we surprised. They do have to make their money though
because those little stands on the beach who rent out boogie boards have to pay the state $30,000 a month for rent. That's right,
$30,000 a month! That's $1,000 a day (or 71 2-hour rentals) PLUS the salary of the kid they paid to rent them out!! On the news
the other day, they said that rent for the buildings there is $30 per square foot per month MINIMUM! And here we thought we were
getting ripped off with our rent...although, in our defense, we're not popping out grade-F hamburgers/fries/drinks for $10 a combo so
we probably lose a lot more money than they do every month.





Try to erase the mental image of the two speedo guys before you have nightmares,
