Well, today we did the registration thing...we set up online registries at Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, and Sur La
Table. The target one was quite user unfriendly and we're not even sure that we saved it...we can view it ONLY if
it is e-mailed to someone, we can't look it up. Problems like this usually occur because of users that don't know
what the heck they are doing and there is a chance that we could be one of those clueless users. However, we are
both vetran web users and total geeks (Ben does a lot of coding for web pages as a side job) so it's quite possible
that it is a server side problem.




Other than the Target problem, the setting up of registries went OK. It was pretty cool to be able to see all of
the store's inventory from your computer and seemed pretty easy. It's much easier than walking to the store and
going through the crowded lanes scanning stuff to add it to a registry! It is especially easy here, where stores
such as Target, Big K, and Walmart are like Zoos! It's nice because you can register in so many places and if you
have family/friends/aquaintances/etc. that live out of state and have a desire to get you something for some reason,
they can buy the stuff online or visit the store in their state (since people can register at so many, there's
bound to be at least one of the stores in the family member/friends/etc. home state/town).




We don't have any pictures to share today since we didn't leave the house except to take out the garbage (AKA rubbish
here). It is too difficult and costly to go out much for us...difficult because TheBus is very un-userfriendly (just
like Target, mentioned above...) and it is costly because we have to spend at least $8 a day on the bus. That doesn't
sound like much but it adds up, PLUS the bus only takes cash so we have to get it from a bank but guess what? Ben's
bank does not exist here so we have to go to an ATM where the fee ranges from $1.5 to $2.5 per transaction and then you
have to go get the $20's changed into $1's in a store and most of these "Cash Only" shops don't seem to like doing anything
that doesn't involve them making a profit. Besides costs, it is very time consuming. A simple trip to the grocery store
and back would normally take less than an hour if we had a car, but without one it takes a few hours...An all day event
just to pick up groceries! This is mostly because the bus comes at (as far as we can tell) completely random times, plus
since it is public transportation, it has to make stops for other people which adds to the commute time. It would actually
take the same amount of time for us to walk to Safeway and back. The only problem is that then we have to carry all the
groceries back and by the time we get home they are all melted (we tried this before) and our arms feel like they are going
to fall off (We live on a hill).




At least we went out for the last couple of days though. It's easy to complain about all of this stuff while we sit inside our
apartment but once we leave it feels completely worth it! This place is so beautiful that it is easy to see people spending
lots of money on vacations here (people in good moods spend more money and beautiful environments put people in good moods).
