frogs than any other day. We were quite impressed with ourselves and our catching abilities.
The rain made it nice and cool for Ashley at work. (She works right in the heat of Waikiki so she feels lucky when it rains). It also has made our home quite cool. We may need to
add an extra blanket to the bed tonight.
The rain seems to also be a relief for the animals. We watched and listened to the cockatoos up in the trees at the arboretum. The lions at the zoo roared at the top of their lungs for
long periods of time. But, the happiest of all the animals were the cane toads.
We think these are ugly little creatures that don't know the difference between a live mate and a dead mate. Plus, it has been speculated that they eat tadpoles (we would not be suprised to learn that
they eat our frogs too. Anyway, they are considered a pest by many, but at the arboretum, they are considered beloved pets. The reason for this is that they eat centipedes, cockroaches, and mice. They
basically eat anything that they can fit into their disgusting mouths. So while we were there (at the arboretum) we saw over a dozen mating. (They are active when it rains). So we got a picture for you
to see the horrible beasts in their natural habitat. (As geeks, we do think that their courting and egg laying behavior is quite fascinating, but we still think they are gross)!
