and so did Ben. After work, we each had a surprise for one another and it turned out to be almost the same thing: fruit! Ben got Ashley 3 avacado's from the arboretum and Ashley got ben 2 Mangoes from the zoo! This is not too unusual because we have tasted a lot of fruit from
trees around such as guava, blue marble, star fruit, papaya, pineapple, and pomello! Ashley hopes to "steal" some limes tomorrow from the zoo grounds, as they have a tree with several that are ripe enough to pick.
After exchanging our gifts of fruit, we lounged around for a bit until we started smelling a strong bleach smell in our apartment. We went outside to find that the maintenance guy had bleached the steps just outside our apartment to kill the mildew...unfortunately it appeared that he
did not dilute the bleach to make a weak solution! He just poured it all over the floor creating a LOT of fumes! So many that we had to get out as we were both developing a headache! This actually turned out to be a fortunate event as we went on a drive that we had never gone on before:
The round-top road drive! On our way up the beautiful mountain we took a couple of pictures of the view: One of diamond head and another of a huge rainbow that was forming over our valley...nothing unusual, as they call our valley the valley of rainbows, but we thought we'd share the pictures.
The view was great! We could even see our house, so we had to take a picture:
It was the first time that we could actually say, "I can see my house from here!" so it was kind of cool!
We thought that we may be sick of the rainforest, rain, the city, the beach, and rainbows by now and that it would turn into just another place to live, but it's something different. We're not sick of any of these places and we both feel very lucky to live in such a beautiful, exciting place! It must be
all of the menehune's that make it so fun!
