Greetings from O'ahu..."The Gathering Place" as it's called by natives but we're calling it "The Land of Mold!!!" We are overrun w/ mold as you can see from our fungus pictures
in the gallery...but in addition to those outdoor fungii, everything inside our home is going moldy at an exceptionally fast rate! For example, last week we bought grapes at
Safeway...THREE DAYS LATER the entire bag was moldy!!! Here's the kicker: They were in our fridge the entire time!!! As you may recall, our cheese went moldy although Ben used it anyway
on accident. The funny thing is, the cherries we bought when we first got here never grew any mold...we're not sure what to think about that...is it better to eat fungal hyphae or anti-fungal
chemicals??
Anyway, today we both worked together at the arboretum (yay!). We had a lot of fun collecting more tadpoles and we caught a frog. While we were searching for tadpoles, Ashley discovered what
can be described in one word: disgusting. Everyone else would call it a candidate for the worlds biggest spider, but we're sticking with our description of "disgusting." The thing was huge! It
even freaked Ben out and he's normally fearless when it comes to spiders. Anyway, We spent most of the afternoon measuring the new tadpoles as
well as the old ones for research and both of our backs are sore from leaning over for so long...we must be getting old!
Speaking of us getting old, it's just about our bedtime...9:15! Tomorrow we'll be out at the zoo doing a "twilight tour" so we'll be out even later and chances are, we may not have a journal entry.
May all your food not go moldy,
Ben & Ashley
