investigation work. Yesterday, we were each independently told about "little blue" frogs that live around here. Blue??? As far as we know there
is only one species of dart frog here on the island, possibly one other species (a brownish, redish-striped species) that has been rumored, but not
documented, to live here. We searched on the web for blue frogs, but had no idea what our two sources were referring to. Today, we had a break-through
on the case...A man living here, and the only other person with a dart frog export permit, used to sell D. auratus (the frog we work on), E. tricolor
(the frog rumored to be released here), and D. azureus (a blue dart frog)!!! This man also happens to be someone is well known among researchers and
hobbiests. But the mystery continues...
We tried to look up his phone number and address, which were unlisted. Then, we looked at the paper that he was a co-author on and his address was on it,
but strangly, there is no such address...Dun dun dun...Now we think that we may be considered stalkers, but it's a nice way to fill up our lazy days out here.
We are liking this place more and more every day and the problem is, we are starting to not want
to come back! This island is like a black hole and everybody here will tell you that, but we didn't really believe them...
However, it turns out, that is what this place really is like. It sucks you in except for it doesn't
shred your atoms into their sub-atomic parts and spit you out in a parallel universe (although it often seems like a bizarre-o world here as you probably have
read on previous journal entries...)
We do have some good news to share...we got a check from the people who hit our car. Hopefully, it will go through and not bounce as it is a personal check. The
unbelievable thing is that the guy did not want to pay us because he thought we would not get the car fixed. Although, he is correct, it does not change the
fact that damage was done to our car and we do deserve some sort of compensation. We are glad to have it over with, though. There should not be stress in a stress-free
environment like this.
In fact, it is so stress free that you can see Ben relaxing on the couch today in the pic below. What a cutie! (Note from Ben: Colleen, see? I worked so hard on my PhD that I fell asleep... yes, I worked so hard...if you look closely, you'll see that is a very important research paper I was reading)
Thanks to all those that answered our request to let us know how you are doing! We love hearing from all of you!!!
And remember, friends don't let friends move to hawaii since they'll get sucked in and never come back to their stressing lives in utah,
