What an exhausting day! After a poor nights sleep last night, we got up this morning to go on a new hike and search for more field sites for our research. We were exhausted as it was but we did it because we need to start getting experiments running. Anyway, the hike was very long and we were soooooooooo tired and had to take several breaks before we reached the top of the trail. The view was amazing,
however, and i posted a not-so-good picture of the view below. Once we got back, we ate lunch and took a nap because we very much needed one. After the nap we drove down to the honolulu civic center where we watched the lei ceremony for the king kamehameha day celebration. It consisted of LOTS and LOTS of leis huge being placed on the statue (see picture below). That was a very interesting thing to watch
and it was amazing to see how many flowers were used to make the leis! That ceremony was over 2 hours and after we decided to go get some MEXICAN food...we found a place called "Jose's Cantina" or something and had quite possibly the worst mexican food we've ever had!!! The place was right across the way from a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse which we should have gone to
even though we were quite underdressed...

Anyway, tomorrow is Ashleys employee orientation day AND the Kamehameha day parade! We should have plenty of pictures to share!

Until next time,

Ben & Ashley
