A typical night here for us is: We go to bed then wake up a couple hours later due either to us being too hot or too cold. This is followed by a brief sleep period that is quickly ended by
one of us wiggling around due to lack of comfort. This puts us at about 3:30 AM... Ben wakes up at about 4:30 or so and moves to the uncomfortable couch to sleep for the remaining hour because
it is during this time that he only kind of sleeps and mostly wiggles around. We then both officially "wake up" at around 7:00 or so, both in a little pain due to our crappy nights sleep.
Ashley always wakes up with back pain due to our crappy mattress and Ben just never really gets any sleep. Therefore, we decided to try and fix this slightly scientifically. Tonight, Ashley is
going to sleep on the air mattress we purchased when we moved here and Ben on the bed by himself. If Ashley's back pain goes away and she feels rested, we're going to get a larger air mattress and
ditch the bed that came with the place. As a control, Ben will sleep on the bed and see if his restlessness continues (which it most definitely will as it is nearly impossible to get
this bed...)
Now with that out of the way, we'll tell you all what we did today (other than figure out the best way to quickly test if it is our mattress that sucks or just us...). After work this morning at the zoo and arboretum
we both decided to go to the beach. We hung out there for a few hours and snapped a few pictures, one of which we posted below. We didn't spend much time in the water as there was a "Warning: Jellyfish" sign on the
beach. It seems that they come near shore 8-10 days after each full moon and we weren't really in the mood to be stung (although it would make an interesting journal entry if we did...hmmm...) The water was fairly still
too, with the largest wave barely disturbing the water. It would have been a great day to swim if you didn't care about the jellyfish...we didn't actually see any, unfortunately, but we trust the sign.
So that's what we did today...and now we're going to bed as we promised not to talk about a certain group of ectothermic vertebrates (man, was that geeky)...so goodnight everyone!
We hope you sleep better than us (it's not that hard, we promise),
